Mouth Cancer Awareness: Early Detection Saves Lives

Hello, this is Sapna from the Centre of Dental Excellence. Last Thursday, I had the privilege of attending the Houses of Parliament to participate in and sign the Mouth Cancer Charter. It was an inspiring event where I met leading experts, survivors, and policymakers committed to addressing the alarming rise in oral cancer cases in the UK.

With nearly 10,000 new diagnoses each year, mouth cancer is becoming a growing concern. November is Mouth Cancer Action Month, and our message is clear: “If in doubt, get checked out.”

Why Early Detection Matters?

Early diagnosis is critical in improving survival rates for mouth cancer. Regular dental checkups play a vital role in spotting abnormalities before they progress. At the Centre of Dental Excellence, we prioritize oral health and encourage our patients to stay vigilant.

Signs and Symptoms to Watch For

It’s important to recognize the warning signs of mouth cancer and seek professional advice if you notice:

  • Mouth ulcers that don’t heal after three weeks.
  • Red or white patches in the mouth.
  • Lumps or swellings in the mouth, head, or neck.
  • A persistent sore throat or difficulty swallowing.
  • Unexplained speech problems or weight loss.
  • Constant bad breath that doesn’t go away.

If you experience any of these symptoms, don’t wait—consult your dentist or doctor right away.

The Role of Regular Dental Checkups

Your dentist is often the first line of defense in identifying early signs of mouth cancer. Routine checkups allow us to monitor your oral health and catch any irregularities early.

At the Centre of Dental Excellence, we are committed to providing comprehensive care that goes beyond just your teeth—we care about your overall health too.

Our Commitment During Mouth Cancer Action Month
